    To whom it may concern:

I write in reference to the proposal “Call to Women:
A World-Wide Unity Campaign via a Global Strategy of Nonviolence
For the Children” drafted by Andre Sheldon.  The proposal is a
call to women to be “the catalyst for a new political agenda in the
    world.”

The objective of the initiative is to respond to the urgency of
the world situation, specifically in preventing war, by globally
enlisting the actions of millions of women and men committed to
nonviolence.  Women are called to come together in “critical mass”
to influence political change around the world.

The project is designed in three phases, the first phase being the establishment of a
Council of Women.  The Council would consist of eight to twelve leaders from around the
world who would launch the global challenge to women to become a movement for peace
across ideological borders.  The infrastructure and funding to make the Council possible
is the role of Andre Sheldon.  The Council would meet within the next few months to
review the project and to shape the compelling call to for a global strategy of nonviolence.

I recently concluded my tenure as elected International President of Women’s
International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), an organization with 92 years of
dedication to the task of abolishing war and eliminating all the economic, political,
psychological and social causes of war.  This experience put me
in touch with many women’s organizations and networks.

As an individual with a life-time of work in various capacities
for social change, peace and environmental sustainability I am
willing to work with the Council of Women to explore the possibilities
proposed and to develop realizable goals and objectives.  I would
do this at this time in an individual capacity and not as a
    representative of any one organization.

    Sincerely,

    Regina Birchem
